The plate 1a 1d black in mint condition is the first and one of the rarest plates. Here we offer a typically 'woolly' appearance worn printing moderate plate wear example SG Specialised cat Nr. AS2, grey-black shade exhibiting the two little dots to the left of the 'Q' in the south-west corner, a three margin example, unused without gum, no faults and ultra-violet checked that this example is genuine unused. We calculate that this sound unused example may realise up to £750 if offered in UPA's 20,000 lot auctions, so just to make the price-drop more attractive to getting in quick, we're starting this example (catalogued £18,500 if 'fine') at just £675 (UPA CERTIFICATE).
